This little unit has become my cat’s second favorite napping spot—right after she’s done playing with it, of course! She loves slapping the ball around, especially when it’s paired with the interactive bird that flaps its wings and chirps. Together, they keep her entertained for hours. Every morning after breakfast, she demands the ball to be turned on and moving inside its plastic cover, which wakes up the bird and gets her chirping. It’s become a daily ritual that makes her a very happy camper.
We’ve also added a long string wand with bird feathers and a plump mouse-shaped toy to our playtime routine. I even found a real dove feather on my porch (from a pair of doves that visit twice a year) and used it to add a bit of bird scent to the toy feathers before placing it back outside. While I know it’s generally not advised to keep wild bird feathers, I’m cautious about the species—pigeons and seagulls are fair game in my area, and I made sure to return the feather where I found it. As someone who’s rehabbed birds for fish and game, I’m mindful of the rules, but I believe a little touch of realism on a toy doesn’t hurt when done responsibly.
This toy has been a fantastic addition to our collection. Both the ball and the bird are rechargeable, with their own USB cables, and they last for days before needing a recharge (which only takes about an hour).
